Classical high school administrator named Rhode Island Principal of the Year
PROVIDENCE, RI (WLNE) – The principal of Providence Classical High School received a big surprise Friday morning.
Scott Barr was named Rhode Island’s 2022 manager of the year at an assembly.
Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, Mayor Jorge Elorza, Superintendent Javier Montañez joined staff and students in congratulating Barr.
“A pillar of our community’s turnaround action plan for Providence Public Schools is to have world-class talent throughout our system, and Principal Barr is a shining example of the exceptional leadership we have,” said said Superintendent Dr. Javier Montañez.
Barr began his career at Providence Schools 32 years ago, as a history teacher. He is now the 16th principal of Classical.
“There is no doubt that Principal Barr’s leadership is positively impacting students and preparing them for future success,” said Mayor Jorge O. Elorza. “As an alumnus of the classical school myself, and as an alumnus of his students, I know the difference Principal Barr has made for hundreds of children.
U.S. News and World Report recently named Classical the best school in Rhode Island and 91st in the nation.
