Former school administrator identified as inmate found dead at Ottawa County Jail
OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – Brian Keith Wheeler, a former school administrator charged with embezzlement from Grand Haven-area public schools, has been identified as the inmate who died Thursday, Jan. ‘Ottawa.
Wheeler, 56, of Muskegon, was found unresponsive in jail. Sheriff’s deputies, jail medical staff and Life EMS paramedics worked to revive him, but he died at the scene, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies said.
No cause of death has been disclosed.

The sheriff’s department has asked the state police to investigate, which is normal in such circumstances.

Wheeler was an assistant superintendent when he used fake bills for a power company to steal more than $900,000 from the school district over the years, police said in court documents.
Earlier this week he did not contest misappropriating more than $100,000 and using a computer to commit a crime.
