High school student arrested after fight over lunch, police say

A student was arrested after a fight over lunch at Haverhill High School on Thursday, police said. Haverhill Police said school resource officers responded to a fight between two students at 11.30am. “The student in question has been expelled by Haverhill Police,” Principal Jason Meland said in a letter to the school community. A knife was seen falling to the ground, but rumors that someone had been stabbed were dismissed by police. No injuries were reported. . Meland said classes were ongoing at the school, but passes were limited.

Students told WCVB that a knife was seen falling to the ground, but rumors that someone had been stabbed were dismissed by police.

No injuries were reported.

“HHS administration and the Haverhill Police Department responded immediately. The situation is under control and the students are safe,” Meland’s letter read.

Meland said classes were ongoing at the school, but passes were limited.
