Royse City high school student arrested for allegedly taking gun to school – CBS Dallas/Fort Worth

ROYSE CITY, TX (CBSDFW.COM) – A Royse City high school student was arrested Friday, Jan. 28, after allegedly bringing a gun to school.

At approximately 8:30 a.m., the Royse Town Police Department was informed by Royse Town High School administrators that they had received multiple reports of a student who had brought a gun in a bag. backpack on campus.

The school resource officer and several other officers responded to the school where they quickly located the student on campus and detained him without incident. The student was unarmed and without a backpack at the time, but his backpack was soon found in an office on campus.

Officers discovered that the backpack contained a loaded 9mm handgun.

Police said the student was a 14-year-old minor and said he was charged with possession of a firearm in a prohibited place, a third-degree felony.

The incident is still under investigation by the Royse City Police Department and there is no further information at this time.
